History and Mandate
The Ontario Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (OSOMS) was first established in 1930 as a non-share capital corporation under the (Ontario) Corporations Act. Its mandate as a professional association is to act for and otherwise represent its entire membership on matters specific to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons with government, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, other health care professions, professional associations, regulatory bodies, other stakeholders and the public. OSOMS members are also members of the Ontario Dental Association and OSOMS collaborates closely with the ODA.
