Dr. Ian Furst,

Dr. Furst  is a dental specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1994 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He completed an internship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Ontario and subsequently received his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery & Anaesthesia also from the University of Toronto in 1999, along with his Masters of Science degree. Dr. Furst has been published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; Journal of the Canadian Dental Association; Oral Health Journal; Laryngoscope; Prehospital Emergency Care and Oral Surgery Oral Medicine Oral Pathology Oral Radiology and Endodontics. He is an Editorial Consultant with the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association, and is also a main contributor to the JCDA Oasis campaign.

Dr. Martin Jokay,                     

Past President


Dr. Martin Jokay completed a 4 year Bachelor of Science degree at University of Toronto specializing in Physiology in 1995.  He obtained his DDS also at the University of Toronto in 1989 and then participated in a one year hospital GPR at the Toronto Western Hospital from 1989 to 1990.  Oral and Maxillofacial surgery training was completed at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/ Montfiore Medical Centre in the Bronx New York in 1994. He obtained his FRCD(C) in the fall of 1994. Since completing his residency he has practiced in Peterborough Ontario for the past 21 years. He is an active staff practitioner at Peterborough Regional Health Centre  where he is also the chief of dentistry.  Dr. Jokay also has staff privileges at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg and at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. 


Dr. Leslie Diamond
Vice President

Dr. Diamond received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Toronto in 1990. After an internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, he attended Boston University for his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency training, and received his specialty certificate in 1995.  Dr. Diamond was awarded his Fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in 1995 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2000.  Dr. Diamond has been in private practice since 1995 and is a senior partner and co-founder of the Coronation Dental Specialty Group with practices located in 7 cities in southwestern Ontario.  He is also a clinical instructor in undergraduate Oral Surgery at the University of Toronto and has served as a Counselor in the Ontario Dental Association, a board examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and as Presidents of the Waterloo Wellington and Stratford and District Dental Societies.  Dr. Diamond maintains privileges and is the Chief of Dentistry at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Woodstock General Hospital.

Dr. Karl Cuddy,

Dr. Karl Cuddy completed studies in Dentistry (DDS), Medicine (MD), Master’s degree in Pathology (MSc) as well as surgical training at Western University, the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry and affiliated teaching hospitals.  Following this, further formal training included a fellowship in advanced craniomaxillofacial surgery and trauma through the Head and Neck Institute, Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and Portland Providence Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.  Dr. Cuddy’s primary appointment is as an Assistant Professor and director of education and maxillofacial trauma at the University of Toronto, providing care at Mt. Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital.  His clinical interests include utilization of technology (ie. computer aided surgery and intraoperative imaging) to improve patient outcomes in craniomaxillofacial reconstructive surgery, the implications of delays on outcomes and cost of care in craniomaxillofacial trauma surgery as well as the rehabilitation of patients with defects or deformities of the face.


Dr. Keyvan Abbaszadeh,                 
Executive Director


Dr. Keyvan Abbaszadeh graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1994. His post-graduate education included internship at the Brigham and Women's/Harvard University Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, followed by completing a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1999. He has been in private practice in London, Ontario since then. Keyvan is a Fellow of, and an examiner for, the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Keyvan is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University Of Western Ontario School Of Dentistry.
